Jan 13th-18th in Port Townsend!!

Together, we will journey into a prayerful space of connectivity, belonging, and storytelling through melody—exploring rhythm, dynamics, and learning to live within the song. Through Jan 13th-15th offerings, we will be co-creating a song / ANTHEM together. Come bring your gift, heartbeat, voice, song and have some fun with us at Rain shadow Recording!!

  • Note: You can attend as many of these offerings as you like, for all levels and ages.

  • If bringing children, please be mindful of the sonic space.

Tues / Jan 13th: rainshadow recording

rhythm - 5:30-7:30

‘when we move, there is rhythm’

We’ve all been gifted with a heartbeat which is innately inside of use, guiding us through life. Often times one might say ‘I don’t have rhythm’. We’ll shift that in a ‘beat’, bringing in our hands, feet, body percussion with simple techniques / time signatures. Through the collective Max will be helping conduct in the space which will begin our collective Anthem.

Wed / Jan 14th: rainshadow recording

melody - 5:30-7:30pm

‘when we speak, there is tone’

Each of us have been gifted a gift that lives inside of us. We will discover that, when we speak there’s also phrase, a tone…and a way to call and respond. Music, art is similar like a conversation that we we will embark on in an authentic / fun / creative way. With 30 years embarking on the journey of melody , Max will be bringing in the knowledge, continuing our anthem.

Thur / Jan 15th: rainshadow recording

harmony - 5:30-7:30pm

‘when we move, sing, there is a dance!!!’

This is the sweet sauce!! When rhythm and melody dance, everything moves like a river. By this day, we will have built a foundation of a song and we’ll explore adding the cherry of Harmony, layering, and counter-rhythms. Perhaps we could share this on Jan 17th at the end of Revival Gathering at the Palindrome :)

sat / Jan 17th: Revival presents: regenerative anthems @ the palindrome (RSVP)

Imagine 150 people encircling these musicians in a raucous choir, communally etching these healing anthems onto the record of our Collective Soul...Join us for a night of collective recording with Aimee Rigle, Miceala Kingslight, Max Ribner, James Rian o’Keefe, Ian Love, Alexa Sunshine Rose and Krivo Flores.

sun / Jan 18th: vocal empowerment

with ian love!! - 2-5pm

With Ian and Max: Workshop from 2:3:15. Song Circle from 3:30-5pm

We are opening a circle to unravel old beliefs around singing and rediscover the voice in a way that may feel closer to how our ancestors related to it — as something natural, communal, healing, and sacred. All are held in the circle of belonging.

Together we will:

  • Gently dissolve judgment and self-criticism around the voice

  • Reframe singing as an inherent medicine in the body, not a mystery reserved for the trained or chosen

  • Demystify the act of singing, making it an accessible resource for everyone

  • Cultivate the voice as a tool for personal healing, resilience, and connection

  • Experience voice as a source of grounding strength within ourselves and within community

ABOUT the workshops

~ We welcome you all to Resilient Beings: an immersive sound journey creatively directed by Max Ribner, Ian Love and local artists.

The music creates a collective experience where the audience becomes the orchestra. Max & the accompanying artists bridge the gap between the stage and the audience by offering themselves as an anchor and providing simple melodies to sing and dance with!!! It is our birthright to sing, to move, and all be a part of music. Inspired by a deeply personal journey of being cracked open …and alchemized by life’s challenges, Max Ribner’s upcoming communal album, Resilient Beings, a collection of modern-day mantras and torch-bearing songs to support us into coming home to the circle.

ABOUT MAX RIBNER

What are the common threads that bridge music, spiritual connection and community service?

This question lies at the heart of Max Ribner’s artistry—an international touring musician, Berklee College of Music graduate, and virtuoso flugelhorn player, known for his work as a composer, musical director, and community collaborator.

Max’s music is rich, reverent, and intimate, honoring the legacy of musical ancestors while embracing a modern, fusion-inspired approach. His sound has brought him together with artists like Esperanza Spalding, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Ahlay Blakely, Rising Appalachia, Trevor Hall, and Liv Warfield (Prince), among many others. His debut solo album, 1st Language, unites over 50 artists in a cross-continental collaboration—a musical call for unity and collective humanity.

Born in the coastal town of Westerly, RI, Max’s passion was ignited when he discovered the trumpet, thanks to his father. This sparked a lifelong commitment to using music as a tool for community impact, supporting youth programs, schools, prison outreach, and clean water initiatives in Ghana’s Adzokoe Peki. Central to Max’s journey is a deep connection to First Nations, honoring the land and integrating its teachings into his creative process. Over the past two decades, he has been guided by elders and the elements, whose wisdom has profoundly shaped his ability to bring people together through the transformative power of music.

With the unwavering support of his parents and the kinship of his two brothers—one who mentored him on the land, the other a fellow musician—Max’s family remains a foundational pillar, and his gratitude lives on
